Talk (Pravachan) given by Pt. R. Maharaj to students on the occassion of Makar Sankranti 2016

Makar Sankranti refers to the apparent northerly movement of the Sun. This is caused by the movement of the earth around the sun. It signals the start of a very auspicious time that lasts for approximately six months.

The earth and everything on it is always moving. As you read this the earth is rotating causing day and night. It is also orbiting around the sun. On the earth the continents move at the speed at which your fingernails grow. The tiny particles that make solid objects are also not static. All of creation is constantly on the move.

The activity of the creation is very attractive to us. Everyone wants to know what is going on. What is the latest score in the cricket or football match? Did you see that post on Facebook? Did you see the movie with Shahrukh Khan? Did you hear the price of food went up?

We have to learn from the sun. The sun has self-discipline. The sun always performs its duty and does not get caught up in the constant movement around it. What will happen if the sun stops shining and starts to do other things?  In the same manner we also have our duty to perform. When we are in a class we have to pay attention to the teacher and do our work. Do not get distracted by the others around you. Perform your duty.

You will get happiness when you perform your duty. Whatever is your duty in this world, whether you are a student, teacher or prime minister once you work sincerely and honestly you will be happy. This is a secret about life. When you do the right things you are rewarded with happiness. This happiness is a message from Bhagwaan (God) that you are on the right path.

Do not worry about others who are not doing the right things. You do the right thing and make yourself happy. In this way you will make the world a better place.
